In September 2020 I decided that I hated my kitchen and removed a cupboard in haste. The space left behind was perfect for a painting project – a series of ephemeral paintings of the deconstructed Polaroids I did while on residency at Hogchester Arts. I set myself rules (which I broke almost immediately), and set to work with the tester pots of emulsion in my understairs cupboard and the new-kitchen deadline looming. Each one inhabited the space of the one before and my kitchen got covered in paint.
